The newest range of yarns from John Arbon is Seafarer, available from us in sport weight. Seafarer pays homage to the tales of monsters and legends lurking in the briny depths of the sea, and the close history with Devon.
We think Hippocamp is a magical blend of blues, light teals and gentle greens. Any Seafarer Sport colourway would be a fantastic option for a lightweight hat - perhaps a Musselburgh? - but this one gets our vote.
A blend of Exmoor Blueface, Bluefaced Leicester, Devon Closewool and Romney bring their own qualities to the mix: springy, soft, durable and with a woolly halo. Silk enhances the sheen and drape, creating what we think is a really special yarn. Tough, and ethereal at the same time.
The addition of stronger fibres means that Seafarer can also be used for socks, and silk adds strength (with no extra nylon!).

Meterage: 300m per 100g / 328yds per 100g
Recommended needles: 3-4mm, but always check your gauge depending on your project
Blend: 90% British Wool (Exmoor Blueface, Bluefaced Leicester, Devon Closewool and Romney), 10% Mulberry Silk (non-superwash)

Care instructions
The folks at John Arbon recommend a gentle wash of their yarns before use. This is because the yarn is not washed after spinning and a gauge swatch will be more accurate once the fibres have had a chance to bloom.
