Appledore Aran is a bouncy blend of British breed wool from that is perfect for garments and accessories. It is our top choice for autumn/winter '26 if you want deep colour, the right degree of crunchy stitch definition, and a lustrous sheen.

Purples and teal blue/greens mix to create a unique fabric with deep tones.

40% Devon Closewool, 40% Romney and 20% Exmoor Blueface, this 100% traceable wool is spun at the John Arbon mill in Devon. Certified, traceable, British wool. It is non-superwash treated, which means not only does it retain its lovely woolly character, but it skips additional chemical processing that can be harmful to the environment.

We love John Arbon Textiles' approach to colour blending all their yarns, and Appledore Aran is no exception. Spinning from dyed tops across different bases gives a wonderful depth of colour and a true artisan yarn.

Weight: 100g

Meterage: 165m / 182 yards per 100g

Recommended needles: 4.5-5mm, although always swatch for gauge

Care instructions

The folks at John Arbon recommend a gentle wash of their yarns before use. This is because the yarn is not washed after spinning and a gauge swatch will be more accurate once the fibres have had a chance to bloom.

Gentle wet or steam block after finishing your project.
